    door latch adjustment

    does any one have an idea of how to adjust a front door latch on a D1? my drivers side door is getting very hard to open all it needs is adjustment and I am damned if I can work out how to do it????

    G'day mate.

    pretty much all you need is some torx bits and a bit of muscle. cant remember what size but you just undo the striker bar and move it out wards to you just a bit or until you get a nice open and close feel.

    blythe, do you mean the internal mechanism? Or what Simon described as the striker pin?

    If the internal mechanism, the remove the door trim, operate the external handle and see the rod that is moved when you do that? It is right over towards the window runner/ channel.

    This rod needs to be made shorter so unclip it at the handle end, and rotate it clockwise as it is threaded into a block down on the latch itself, not visible easily. I find at least 5 to 7 turns is required, sometimes more.

    If the striker pin, then an 8mm allen key will be the one you need. Pay close attention to where the catch is grabbing the pin when door is closed, sometimes you have to add a washer under it to prevent it binding on the inside edge of the catch piece.

    Yes I should have clarified that it is the internal bizzo.

    Justin as always you are a legend, but as I have already had a crack at door trim off etc, your coment "not easily visible" is a classic understatment. anyway now that I have the extra information I will try again

    Carried out this little exersize on the tail gate the other day your right a bit of muscle and torx bit does it a treat
