blythe, do you mean the internal mechanism? Or what Simon described as the striker pin?
If the internal mechanism, the remove the door trim, operate the external handle and see the rod that is moved when you do that? It is right over towards the window runner/ channel.
This rod needs to be made shorter so unclip it at the handle end, and rotate it clockwise as it is threaded into a block down on the latch itself, not visible easily. I find at least 5 to 7 turns is required, sometimes more.
If the striker pin, then an 8mm allen key will be the one you need. Pay close attention to where the catch is grabbing the pin when door is closed, sometimes you have to add a washer under it to prevent it binding on the inside edge of the catch piece.
