    Bull Bar Winch Mount TJM

    Hi all,
My Question is does the Steel Winch bar require a winch mount like the Alloy TJM Bar does, A friend has an alloy bar & wondering if i need this as well.
I would presume you do, but do stand to be corrected.
My Father in law is in need of a winch mount for his 96Tdi.
He has the winch, winch bar(Steel) but no winch mount plate.

I have rang TJM & they have said that it is "no longer available & you will have to source your own"
A little dissapointed to say, but life goes on.
So was wondering if anyone has one for sale or knows of one i can obtain.

    Cheers & TIA.

Hi, you can mount a winch directly in the steel TJM bar but nothing over 9500lb. If you want to go heavier you need to mount a cradle between the shassy rail, it can be any model as it's independent of the winch bar. I have an Ironman 9500lb winch in mine and fits no worries. Only has to cut the hole for the clutch a bit bigger. I can take some pictures if you like.
    Cheers, David.

Hi again, I don't no why the first picture didn't come up i can see it. I just went out and took some more, see how this goes.

Also to note, it bolts forward to the front of the bar. You have to remove the gaerbox of the winch and rotate it so that that clutch leaver is pointing up through the hole in the bar. I had to cut the back bit out of the bar as it was fouling the clutch handle. I'm also going to move the control box up under the bonet near the brake booster to give more air flow to the radiator. I just have to get some longer cable to extend it. Being remote control I dont need access to the control box to winch and if I do I will pop the bonet. It will also be up out of the muck aswell. Any other question just ask.
    Cheers, David.

    That is excellent, thanks heaps.
I know about rotating the gearbox, mounted many a winch before.
I just wasnt real sure if i needed the cradle, by the looks of it i wont.
That will save the FIL a bit of cash. He might even by me a drink or 3..
I have to fit a Warn 9000lb unit, so i may not have to modify the lever hole!?
We wil see how we go next weekend.
    Cheers.
