    Sitting to high

    Hi Guys,
I have put up with this for 12 months and it is time to find a solution. When I sit in the drivers or passanger seats of my 98 tdi disco, if I sit properly I look pretty much straight at the base of the sun visors about 50mm above the top of the windscreen. Being almost 2m tall this is a problem as i find my self constantly slumping to see out the front.

My divers seat has now collapsed, yes it is very uncomfortable but the height of the seat is now good. So is it going to be cheaper and better for me to get the standard seat re done into a bucket style with new padding etc. Or should I look for a seat from another vehicle or an aftermarket one (expensive)

    Any help appricated

    Thanks Andrew

I too have that problem. You tend to slouch and look through the windscreen top tint band, at night it makes things darker.
May be land rover should have fitted the side sun lights at the front above the windscreen so us tall buggers can see out.
One thing tough it's no good for the posture.
I sat in a series landy once and could see out, all I saw was the roof lining

Has anyone put other seats in a disco, I know the oe ones are very comfortable some of the best I have sat in. But they are to high I need a more bucket style seat. Does anyone know of ones that will fit??

Hi Andrew I too am nudging 2m especially in the morning when I seem to most of the time ducking under door frames or hitting them. Any how does your Disco have electric seats or manual seats. I seem to recall sitting in an electric seat Disco and finding it uncomfortably high, this put me off Discos for quite a while. But my steam powered seat model seems much better even though driving through a dip can be a bit unnerving as I cannot see what is coming down the other side towards me.
Personally I cannot see why any cars or trucks have sunvisors all they do is completely block my line of sight but remove them from the car and all hell is let loose come WOF time

Hi Adrian, My car has manual seats, I agree with you why do they put sunvisors in? unless you were 5 foot they are usless. Are rangie seats more of a bucket style? Without major mods I can't see it possible to lower the actual runners. The cheapest option I can see would be rangie seats if they are better or seats from another vehicle. Aftermarket seats eg. recaros are way to expensive.

I have been doing a little reading online and I found some sources that seem to suggest that a range rover classic seat will be an easy swap into a D1?? Can anyone confirm this?
Are they more of a bucket style seat than the disco??

    Thanks Andrew

Why don't you just pull the front seat, el la Hightower in the first police academy movie and sit in the back, keep an eye on the kids at the same time.
    I'm only trying to help.

The seating position in the D1 is one of the main reasons I'm reluctant to buy one. You feel like the hunchback of Notre Dame, just trying to see more than 10m in front of the vehicle.

Is the D2 any better, or the Defender?
