i reckon mine play up sometimes as well.
Think i fix it by mashing the lock-out switch real hard a couple of times.
Also, i can never tell what position it's in, so I just try the windows a few times with a few clicks of the button, eventually they work

    Common problem.

About time you learned how to use the search function.

Search on here and you'll find the info on repairing the solder joints in the control module.

True - that's why I gave the link. But Robzilla's not.

hahaha yeah I don't know how much "mashing" a switch could possibly help...but I used to do that with my old XF Falcons temperature gauge because it used to sit on full the whole time and I just thought it was broken because I'd hit it and it would go back down to about half before making its way back up to full...turns out I had a leak in the radiator and it was bone dry for a while and it blew up one time on the Eastern Freeway It was actually funny because it wasn't worth a sausage anyway and there was smoke billowing out from all around the engine block just like in some kind of crazy cartoon HA!

Anyway that's a bit off topic, thanks for that info that sounds like an easy fix and I'm relieved now to find it's so common and not too much of a concern. I just bought the car home and noticed it on the way home and after hearing how many things can sometimes be wrong with these cars, especially electrically, I got a bit worried and annoyed at myself for overlooking something so simple in the first place.

The guy I bought it off said to just give the car a rest and then try it again and the computer that controls the windows might work itself out

If it is the window control box behind the glove box,it some times can be made to work by slamming the glovebox shut....not too hard though!Temporary fix, eventually you end up resoldering the joints.

If you just bought it I would go back and get it fixed under warrenty yes you could do it but why if you can get the seller to do it. That is if you bought it from a car yard not private

Just got out that ECU and soldered that little bit of a dry joint...damn pesky thing. Fixed the rear windows and I feel awesome for doing it! I just couldn't let the car beat me on the first day

Lol had the car a day and already had to fix a problem, is this an omen of what's to come?

This forum and everyone on it rocks, thanks heaps for your advice I'm sure I'll be asking some more of you soon enough...but hopefully not too soon
