I have the standard off the shelf disco koni's in mine with a 3" lift and have had no problems at all.
hey all, more questions!
I've got Koni adjustable shocks front and rear and got under there to find part numbers today.
Fronts 84-1186
Rears 84-1189
I found on the Koni website they make shocks for both standard and lifted heights, but none of my part numbers even resemble the part numbers they list
Does anyone recognise these numbers as being standard length shocks, long travel shocks etc..?
Searching the web, these were the best figures i could find, I'm hoping they make sense to someone here coz i'm lost![]()
Part: 84-1186 (Fronts)
Extended Length: 22.3" / ~566mm
Compressed Length: 13.5" / ~342mm
Travel: 8.9" / ~226mm
Part: 84-1189 (Rears)
Extended Length: 22.1" / ~561mm
Compressed Length: 13.6" / ~345mm
Travel: 8.5" / ~216mm
Ultimately, i'm looking to put in 2" lifted springs all round and keen on keeping the shocks. The front is already lifted (about 40mm) but the rear is stock height.
This thread gave the answer for standard travel Koni's Koni shocks long travel? but I think im trying to go back a step and just find out more about the current shocks. If they're standard travel, above standard etc.?
So I guess if someone can interpret those shock specs, im hoping i've possibly scored some longer travel items?Or if anyone can confirm they'll be fine with lifted springs?
Also, i'm not after big articulation changes. main reason for the spring lift is just to fit bigger tyres, any increase in movement would just be a bonus (although obviously i don't want to lose any either!)

so you read the part number and it states that it was for a 40mm lift
but a 40mm spring in the rear is only 1" isn't it...
pretty sure it is I have 40mm in the front and 50mm in the rear 2" lift....
So unless I have read this post very wrong as well
Or are you saying that they were tagged with a part number for a 40mm but when you measured them they were 60mm or what ever it is making it a 3" (I'm guessing that measurement hence my original question)
And no jumping any gun was just asking a question...![]()
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
ordered some 2" Dobinson's off Suspension Stuff today, so will soon find out how the shocks go![]()
Only a woman can confuse a simple post so quickly, 50mm= close to 2" mine are 3" so close to 75mm front and rear not 40mm F and 50mm R.
Yes the id label part number according to the website was stated to give a 40mm lift F & R but when i fitted them it is definately lifted by 3 " (75mm give or take a few) .
