I would go the Dobinsons and the Bilsteins due to the great reputation on both, i am putting Dobinsons in mine next week.
hi guys, i know lift kits for D1's has been covered but i just want peoples answer on one simple question... i am stuck deciding between 2 choices which are both same price range.... would you buy DOBINSONS colis with BILSTEIN shocks or would you buy TJM XGS GOLD??? both same price both apparantly good... if you say got given a set. which one would you want and why??? cheers guys... hope this helps me decide![]()
I would go the Dobinsons and the Bilsteins due to the great reputation on both, i am putting Dobinsons in mine next week.
lol thats it. its so hard to make a decision!!!
but i think if i went either 2 lots i would be ok. i have looked at EFS, etc and i think i would prefer to spend that little extra and get better quality...
Either of those two would be a good choice. The only advantage in going with the TJM stuff is that it will possibly be better matched. Either way I dont think that you could go to far wrong
the only question I would ask of either is how much wheel articulation will you have after the kit is installed.
As both are very reputable companies, the better length would win
hmm i thought that but then i rang ballarat tjm for a chat (as the geelong guy knows my voice) and he said that the TJM kit uses king springs and its their own XGS gold shock... and from what ive heard the Dobinsons coils are better than the kings? apparantly.... and he also said to me that if it was him he would buy the bilsteins!!! that is a bloke from TJM!!! he said " look, ours is a great shock, but i havnt put them inot a discovery myself. I know that perform very well from testing, but honestly, BILSTEIN has been around for a long time and work very well with discoveries and there is a reason they are so powerful.. but it all comes down to price, what you can afford.." i told him that the two kits were within 20dollars of each other and he said " then go the bilsteins hands donw, thats what i'd do" hahah so obviously not wanting to sell me whatever he can for money but actually looking after the customers interests? either way that kind of cemented the idea of what im going to choose now lol... dobisnons and bilsteins!!! thanks for all your help guys
My vote is for kings and koni's as have used the same setup on 3 vehicles, i have tough dog springs in now with koni's as i couldnt be stuffed removing the coils before i sold my last rangie.
