Perhaps take your current intake pipe to a wrecker and have a wander around looking at other cars to see if they have anything useful.
That is what I did when I fitted a 3.9 into my RRC and needed an intake pipe.
Hi all. I have an LPG mixer in that bit of pipe (the concertina section) between the MAF and the throttle body - ie I have had to cut that and insert it. I have done it twice now by taking out enough of the concertina area to get the mixer in and it leaves some concertina pipe in but its still all a pretty tight fit...the result is that it cracks the pipe in the remaining concertina folds due to the pressure and the engine shaking I guess. What I am trying to do is get something in there that will work (please dont say LP injection cause this one works great and has done for years) and will still allow some flex as the V8 moves.
Any ideas of what I could use and where I could source it would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same cracking problem due to my LPG setup. Mine isn't all the way through except in a couple of small spots so I fixed it with silicone
However I've meant to look into the Commodore intake pipe since I saw it in one of Rovercare's photos. I should get onto it I suppose.
Mate - thats a nice air box....I like it much better than the plastic crap. It could connect up nicely to a snorkel (the original set up would probably be better for water crossings than your set up unless you snorkel it). What is yours off...looks real old rangie classic or similar.

Thanks matey. Did you notice any difference in breathing and noise? Also, do you know that that weird torpedo shaped thing in the original pipe is for - the one that goes under the pipe and seems a great place to collect the heavy LPG....
Also in the attached Safari Kit diagram for a very early D1 - do they block off the end with a cap and you have to cut a hole in the side and take the feed off that...would the attached work on yours bee utey based on what you know of where yours sits?

Noise: less than the exhaust. Sounds like something is happening under the bonnet.
Breathing: correct for the LPG system, if the restriction of the aircleaner is reduced I would have to increase the restriction of the mixer. The vehicle came to me with a pod filter full of burn holes and a small gas ring. Fixed the ignition, repaired the lpg with a bigger ring to match the aircleaner.
Torpedo thing: resonant chamber, think muffler. Lose it and you get a bit of roar, not too bad. Less plastic to split when it goes bang.
Snorkel: I have seen the snorkel adaptor pictured (not very efficient), also a home made one with much more air flow to the side of the element. I will be fitting a snorkel to a mate's 300TDi with this aircleaner soon, I will be going in the front with a flexible hose off a Nissan RB30 Skyline which will aim the inlet back towards the firewall.
Mate - I am going to go with your idea of having the mixer right up at the beginning of the solid elbow and then run flexible commodore tube from there to the MAF....with my current mixer it requires filler pipe to make it seal in the flexible LR pipe, so I guess it should be a good fit into the end of the elbow joint....is yours an interference fit and how did you achieve a good airtight seal...have you used that blue goo or something?
I have a split in the flexible tube between the mixer and the solid elbow and I am so sick of the LR tubing its not funny - the Commodore one is rubber not plastic so its a much better proposition.
