Just measure the voltage at the pin and earth the other test probe. If its +12V then you could safely say that applying any 12V external source to the pin should work.
However, if its +5V or other, you will need to tap the power from inside the BCU where the power comes from and wire an external switch to turn on and off. This would usually involve a jump wire across the pins at the plug from the correct voltage supply.
Its most likely triggered by a dual state IC from the remote command, much the same as a garage door operates. It wont be a variable voltage.
Never know, it may be as simple as that!
