I know some on this site have fixed their issues with removing the cat and middle muffler. Wonder if the cat is blocked. As I have a reworked ECU and therefore more exhaust, the cat will block quicker. Might have this checked next week.

today went to Quarks and had my amigos reset and engine monitored with nanocom to check for anything, but nothing stood out.
also before putting the rear shaft back on i put on just the handbrake drum and went for a drive with that to check it without the shaft and still no sound
but once i had the rear shaft back on the noise came back too.
prob take it to nearby rover specialist to talk about this and see what they think...
finally got around to checking again and mine too goes away with rear shaft off.
just keeping you all up dated
replaced rear diff and back end including axles bearing etc
vibration still there
changed automatic oil to nulon synthetic
auto now changes smooth lessen the vib a little, but not worth it
just thinking mine is chipped by mr redcliffe (bruce davis chip)
going to take it to an auto place which deals with td5s
have had the transfer pulled apart insitue cant find anything wrong
had have 2 different rear drive shafts
good luck with it all
i have driven 5 td5's all of which are friends which are smooth and a dream to drive
i believe it is engine related or clutch slipping in auto:eek:
hi
i think you might like to know, that my vib has gone :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
as i have been following your post i know we have a very similar issue
i have looked at all options
i had a very bad vib
ruled out drive shafts/drive train
looked to be in the auto tc
i change to full sin auto oil
i found a temp fix recommended by 2 well known auto repair shops
is called Dr Tranny INSTANT SHUDDER FIXX Redirecting... Definitely worth a try for $22 from my locale auto repair shop
put in auto when cooled with engine running took it 30min drive vibrated 2 times up hill but on the way home couldn't make it vibrate
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
if you have checked all drive line etc it is high recommended
will let you know how it goes over the coming weeks
it does highlight issues with auto and the tc :(:(:(
hope this lasts for a long time
thanks for the suggestion, ill give it a go when i replace my auto oil and filter in the next week.
What fluid do you use? I use Castrol Transmax-Z.
I'd have thought a modern quality fluid would contain whatever additives exist in the Dr Tranny (a porn film I DON'T want to watch) formula.
hi
i used nylon full synthetic
made box smother
but vib was still there
used the dr tranny instant shudder fixx, it really fixxed the vib/shudder (supplied by automatic service repair place)
couldn't believe what i was saying so i took the disco for anther run up and down hills which would normally set the vib off but it didn't
haven't tried towing yet
if i am very very picky i would say that it stopped the vib in my disco by 95%
says on the back
1# selling instant shudder fix
instant shudder fixx is a concentrated friction modifier made of synthetic ester for eliminating torque converter shudder problems instantly mixes with all conventional or synthetic atf
the words of the automatic mechanic was i dont belive in mechanics in a bottle but this really works
and after i have used it i am lost for words:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
don't understand enough of automatics to be sure, but wouldn't the lockup torque converter bypass shudder if it was in an auto ?
or does this(Dr Tranny) affect how the clutches work ?
