I have just bought a Pioneer deh-6150bt. it has usb for lots of stuff and bluetooth for mobile phone hands free. it also has steering control compatibility. I don't have steering controls to let you know how it goes but can someone tell me how to fill the gap under the stereo i can see in the first few photos that the same thing has been used to fill the gap or is that bit of plastic sitting under the factory stereo?

what size speakers are in the front and rear doors?

    cheers

the bit of plastic to fill the gap under the stereo is actually a genuine Land Rover part but I can't remember the number off the top of my head.
I got one of those PAC swi steering wheel control interfaces on ebay (cheers NJZ) and it works a treat now just have to swap the front splits for something tasty like a set of focals and away we go.

    Hi Spendboyd

Just took my factory head unit out and found the plastic bit already there. handy.

On the split front I would call these guys.
Total Recoil Australia - Speaker Repairs

they used to custom make splits with kevlar cones that will blow you away. I worked in car sound some years ago and found the Focals a bit harsh compared to MB Quarts. But them the ones from Total Recoil defy description.
I am about to send a set of Nakamichi 6.5s down there for a recone and they will come back twice as good as they were out of the factory. Cheers

I have taken the genuine head unit out and replaced it with a Alpine mp3 player with fully integrated ipod which leads into the glove box in order to hide the cable.

I then replaced the front speakers and tweeters with some expensive German Mistro splits, which were well worth the money. They sound amazing compared to the factory speakers.

cool, are they a 6 inch, 6.5 inch or 5 inch?

Also where did you put the tweeter? I have new leather door trims on the way and they have the tweeter grill on the trim. just not sure if that is the best spot for a tweeter.

    Cheers

    Parrot RKI8400

I'm thinking of installing a Parrot RKI8400 in the DISCOVERANGE. Parrot are famous for their state of the art bluetooth handsfree units.

Having ripped all my CD's to MP3 I no longer have need for a CD unit in the car and this unit has connections for USB drive, SDHC cards and Ipod.

I particularly like the cubby box to put you phone/iphone/ipod in allowing you to make calls from the front panel. This should stop me getting fined!!!

By all accounts the sound quality is pretty good with 50 Watts X 4.

There is a great video on this unit HERE

    Cheers,

    Robbie

That looks very interesting do you know if it has a wired remote so you can use the steering wheel controls?

They are 6.5" if my memory serves me correct. The tweeters are in same place the factory tweeters were (A pillar). My doors dont have place for the tweeters. If you could let me know where you are getting the leather trims from that would be great, they sound like a good idea.
