    New Disco 2 owner

    Howdy all,

My names Tim and I'm from melbourne

I've just become the owner of a 2000 disco v8 and I'm now in the process of making right all the wrongs with it, I've got a leaking airbag, a broken window reg, a broken door lock (and no remote working), non functioning aircon, rough running motor and a craked rear bumper but can't complain as the price was reallly really really really cheap..........

anyway I have some questions for the all knowledgable forum members out there,

    1. where is the best place to get window regs from?

    2. how do I fix the broken door lock. I've removed the door trim and theres just ?

    3. Can anyone recommend a good service manual for me?

    4. suspension lifts whats recommended I want to tour but also like to play in the mud too

I've been reading through the forums and read that paddock spares have the best prices for airbags and have found a seller on ebay with replacement remote buttons

Hi Tim, I'm only new here too. Got my Disco 2 a couple of weeks ago.

    1. ? Search is your friend and look in the 'Good Oil'

    2. ? "

    3. There is a full Landrover service manual available on CD-Rom, called the RAVE CD.
It is available to purchase through the "shop" section of this site and proceeds go towards the website upkeep. Haynes manuals are also available.

    4. 2" lift seems to be the easy option. Bigger coils and shocks at front and spacers for the Airbags at the rear. Also there are Coil Replacement kits available to replace the Rear Airbags with coils, they are apparently cheap compared to fixing airbags.

If you buy a replacement remote button from ebay you will then need to have your vehicle configured to operate with it. This can be done at with a Nanocom if you know anybody that has one.

The broken door lock is possibly just broken springs, that are available on Ebay.

Sorry guys, should have read my post before hit the button....

the problem with the door lock is the shaft that comes from the key barrel itself is just hanging there, after doing some more reading I've read there may be a grub screw loose in it. I've got some time off in the next week so I'll fiddle around a bit.

On the key buttons, I've ordered just the silicon touch pad part, not the complete key so I should get away without reprogramming the key.

I've had the car on the hoist in the last few days and it seems my compressor is stuffed and one airbag also, I'm now looking for a coil conversion kit cause I'm cheap and don't want to spend the $$ on something I don't 100% trust.

I took the beast for my first drive too and it was terrible, I couldn't rev over 2000rpm without it backfiring and loosing all power, I suspect I have a dodgey air flow meter, or blocked cats but other than the no power I really enjoyed driving the car.

    Thanks for the replys

    Cheers Tim

PS where is the CD stacker located? not much of an issue as I have an Ipod but it alledgedly has one.....

The stacker is under the drivers seat.

    Very easily.....

to me I'd prefer something more agricultural and tried and tested, and although the sls system may be a great thing I would prefer just to throw some coils in and not worry about it till they start to sag at which time I can replace them at my leisure not have to replace a leaky bag or broken compresor imediatly.

    Cheers Tim
