    Aircon fan wouldn't stop??

    G'day all,

Switched off Smokey...got out...could hear a whirring sound. Popped bonnet...rang good mate Pete.....sounded like aircon fan....ie the fan in front of the radiator. Turned car on and off....still whirred. Waited....turned on and off....it stopped. What could be the cause of that? Don't need any hassles as going away over Easter. Thanks in advance for any thoughts,

    Regards

    Stevo

Oil in the injector harness is usually the culprit for this Stevo.

Hey Baz...thanks for that.....will find out. I was meant to have had some new thingamajig/updated part that was meant to prevent this sort of thing happening...assuming that is the case. Will be going for a drive shortly..will see if it does it again.

The fan you refer to (elec in front of raddiators ect.) will run if the coolant temp reaches a pre dettermind point.
Read it on RAVE not long ago when sorting mine out.
It's on a timer from the ECU and needs to be over @97 Deg. from memory.
    Good to know it works
    Cheers, Kyle

Just as long as it has a good reason for getting that hot!

    Totally agree Graeme

If it hasn't dropped below 90deg by the time you pull into your driveway, there is something much more serious wrong than oil in the injector harness

I'll put money on it being the injector harness, that was one of the symptoms I had both times.

Mate it's easy to check, just pull the plugs off the ECU and you'll see the oil.

Would be worth while to find someone with a Nanocom to check the running engine temp. As the gauge will only show hot when almost to late.
You may have a sticking thermostate. Feel both ends of the radiator. If the inlet side is hot. But the drivers side cold, than water is not flowing thought the radiator. If the thermo is stuck closed than no water will get diverted though the radiator.

This might be an overheating issue Stevo, mine did the same when i lost all my coolant and overheated the car and was stuck on the side of the road. Had to pull a fuse out to stop the fan just so my battery wouldn't die. Get Pete on it with the nanocom and see what temp it is running at, he will also be able to check if you are having injector loom issues.
