    crank angle sensor info

    Hi There ,

Just wondering if someone could tell me roughly what a new crank angle sensor is worth?
What sort of common faults could you experience if it is faulty?
Would the car be not producing maximum power even though it revs out to 4 grand?

I paid around $130 six months ago.
My symptoms were the cylinder balance figures (on nanocom) wildly out, ranging from -13 to +19 across most cylinders; also noticeable rough idle.

if its starting and running its not the crank angle sensor. (extened cranking time to start can be a symptom of one thats excessively noisy) as mentioned rough idle is another good symptom of one thats noisy. The only one Ive had to change was showing the off numbers for the pot balance on a nanocom and idling rough but both symtoms eased off as the temperature and RPM's came up.

I would suggest that you check the map, maf, oil in the harness, waste gate acutator and controller as well as the turbo hoses and the EGR unit as a whole.

    Cheers blacknight,

I have recently put a new Maf sensor in, also modified the harness, the waste gate solenoid has been replaced, and also has new 5 ply hoses on the turbo/intercooler, egr removed too.
Maybe it could be as simple a s a blocked fuel filter???? next on the list although it was done around 8000kms ago.
Could it be the throttle position sensor??

What should the Map sensor be reading on the Nanocom?

    cheers

86 ish idle to 220 max for the MAP
40 ish idle to 600 for the MAF
    02 D2.
Sounds like limp mode have you checked engine errors with Nanocom?

The fuel filter clogging starts out with excessive pump noise.but you might be low on pump pressure as well.

the TPS failing generaly gives nothing but Idle or a spot in the pedal that either does nothing.

    Hey Mate,

the only thing that I can think of is that when you turn the engine off, it sounds like there is a slight squealing sound that slowly fades away, like a fuel pump kinda noise. I noticed this after I last did the diesel filter change and was bleeding air outta the system, it has since stayed there when you turn the engine off.
could it be a pump fault??
Whats best way to check fuel delivery?

That will probably be the centrifugal oil filter spinning down ... it's driven by oil pressure.

Sounds like its coming from the drivers side, not where the filter is located.......
    I dunno!
