Never seen injectors seized but its possible.
Check turbo hoses they can delaminate
Hey Guys
Ive got a 2000 Disco TD5 (140kms) that is blowing black smoke.
Its especially bad when you put your foot down and the revs get up around 3500rpm +. I dont get many motorbikes staying behind me for very long!!
I've enquired about recon injectors but most places I called ran for cover and said they dont touch them!!! Due to the injectors possibly being seized in the aluminum head.
I'm going to check the basics this weekend, turbo, filter etc but any "inside" knowledge and pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I don't think any one does recon injector for TD5, But could be wrong
Might be worth checking the ExhaustGasRecirculation valve. I had similar symtems on a VW Transporter with the 5 cyl Audi motor. All the experts suggested I replace injectors. Fortunatly I tried blocking the ERG actuator supply pipe off and this stopped all the black smoke.
Cheers
Dennis
Yea it has been chipped. Was done by the previous owner for around $600 by a landrover dealer. Not sure what make of chip it is.
Cheers guys
Im going to get one of those EGR blank off kits and try that, disconnect the MAF sensor and check the intercooler hoses....maybe even put some nice silcone ones on.![]()
Black smoke is what chips do when they are turned up too much.Yea it has been chipped. Was done by the previous owner for around $600 by a landrover dealer. Not sure what make of chip it is.

mine has a chip and it smokes like a basterd. when you open it up to 3-3500 in ither 3rd or 4th gear it just goes off like a basterd. it will make any car back off.but again it makes it thursty. last tank around town driving hard was aprox 16L per 100 and again the previous owner bought the chip and am unsure what brand it was.

Without stating the obvious but have you checked air filter and hoses? Clogged up air filter will cause lots of black smoke (Incomplete combustion)
