    high pitched whistle sound??

Hello everybody. I have just noticed a high pitched whistle which changes tone with the engine. It seems to happen a while after start up. I have not been on a long enough drive yet to see when if at all it disappears. It seems to be intermittant. I thought maybe head gasket as it does sound a little like that gas escaping sound. And it does change tone with operation of throttle. Anyone got any ideas??

A mates discovery did this and it was his alternator,

    Ummm,that changes things....

One of our work vans on LPG also does this from time to time, doesn't seen to affect anything.I recon it is a leak on the inlet manifold or associated pipework somewhere,it actually sounds like a turbo wastegate whistle.
