What is the best colour for a 4WD...... your opinion?

What is everyones opinion on what is the best colur on a 4wd that will not show up scratces dents scuffs etc etc... I have a dark blue mettalic disco 2 and after my last 4wd trip it looks like some one has attacked it with a scourer pad which made the handbrake really ****ed at me! maybe its time for a new paint job in a different colour

Off-white in my opinion. The coloured mud/dirt washes off anyway. Scratches to the clear lacquer don't show nearly as much as against dark colours. LR probably realised this with that popular "chamonix" creamy white seen on many Classic Rangies and Defenders.

My D2 is white. Doesn't show scratches at all. My dad also had a white Troopy for 15 years that was used off road its entire life. We polished it with kitten no2 when we sold it and it looked brand spankers.

Yep can't beat white or 2nd best any lighter colour. As mentioned scratches don't show up as easily, but when the paint fades you also won't notice it as easily as with a darker car.

By far white is the best for not showing scratches and comes up a million dollars when given a good wash. I chose a white disco after driving white work vehicles which always cleaned up well. It can seem like a boring colour but when dressed up with tinted windows and black rims, bullbar and side steps looks great (just my opinion). I've been told white cars have the best resale value too.

    Maroon, best colour ever.
    QUEENSLANDER!!!

My maroon/red D1 always comes up a treat after a wash and polish; however, white would have to be the best and closely followed by silver.

I love my Bonati Grey D2 - it hides all manner of brake dust, road grime etc. It also does not tend to show scratches, however white would be the best at that. I like some D2's I have seen in white (but not D1's) but overall when I bought knew I could have had white, blue, red or Bonati Grey and I went grey and have been very happy with it.

    Cheers

PS. Grey looks like its built for business too.

My D2 is blue. So that must be the best colour.

The best colour is determined not by appearance (which is a very minor consideration in any four wheel drive), but by the fact that white or near white is the coolest in Australia's heat, and also, by virtue of the visibility to other vehicles, has a significantly lower accident rate. And consider that almost all fleet four wheel drives are white or close to it. (except military etc).
