How Big an intercooler can I fit to the Disco?

    HI all

I am looking at a 600x300x75 with Entry and Exit is at the top. without taking the front off mine does anyone know if this will fit or do I need top entry bottom exit?

    Cheers

Why would you want a huge intercooler like that?

I think the question you should be asking yourself is what do you want from your engine, and then adjust your modifications to suit.

intercoolers have to be sized to suit the application....too small and it will restrict flow, but too big and it will give you too much lag. higher cooling efficiency of the cooler usually also means lower flow and visa versa.

IMHO a 600x300x75 cooler will be complete overkill for your diesel.

hadn't thought about the increased lag I have thought about a water spray system on the factory one to cool it a bit better. it can be rigged to run on boost levels. I will see if I can find the Autospeed article on it.

    Cheers

Considering the mounting position of the IC (Between the A/C and radiator) you would struggle to fit the unit.

Mounts and tanks are rather different to the 'jap import' style coolers too.

Water spray at boost would empty the tank very quickly as the TD5 is usually on boost quite often.

ASETurbo make the correctly sized product.

Yes they are "mine" Daves workshop is around the corner from my old business premises..

We worked hard to get the TD5 ICs at a reasonable price - At the time a known Sydney LR guy was slugging $2800.00 for the same item.
