Thread: My D2 sliders

Great job. Even though I have made my sliders already I too would be interested in the dimensions / materials. And again never heard of yard section before either.

I needed a hurry up for this (Thanks Hamish, I missed the 48hrs even!!)

Materials List for the sliders and costs.

2 off: Galvanised Oval Yard section (115 x 42 x 2.5) 1640mm $65

8 off: Galvanised Oval Yard section (115 x 42 x 2.5) 50mm ($ included above)

2 off: Unequal 3mm angle folded at my local engineering shop, 110 x 65 (inside dimensions) x 1410mm $72

2 off: 100mm x 3mm flat plate 1000mm $8 These ar the inner vertical mount plates and are welded to the unequal angle.

4 off: 42 x 135 x 3mm flat plate for the end caps $ 2

2 off: 2.5 mm Aluminium checker plate top 150mm x 1620mm including 12mm edge at 45 deg. to contour step edge $50

34 off: 8mm nutserts, 8mm zinc coated bolts, spring washers. $ 33

1 kg of welding rods (had them already but roughly $20)

1 flap disc $3

Stone chip paint and primer $32

Rivets for Alli top plate (had them at home for years so havnt priced what 20 odd flush rivets cost)

So a total of $285

You could spend about an extra $50 if you went for stainless bolts and nutserts, but as the sills are just steel and the bolt shop had no stainless nutserts etc etc, i am happy enough with the plated stuff. I requested off cuts for the end caps and inner vertical mount plates, this will save you a few $ if the supplier has offcuts available.

The drawing attached is very rough but should give anyone able to do it themselves enough of an idea. I have skilfully lost my dimensions for the positioning distances of the outrigger brackets but will get onto that straight away.

If you copy the design to make commercial units thats fine, just send me a set also
