    Question Transfer case compatibility?

G'day everyone,my mate has just blown his transfer case in spectacular fashion.Has a hole in the side and everything!
He is half way through a road trip,so needs to replace it urgently. We have access to a few used units, but need to know if they are compatible.
He has a 3/97 Tdi Disco. Can anyone advise what other years/models are compatible with this models transfer?
    Much appreciated,Andrew.

Any Disco I, either tdi or V8, manual or auto.
Some, but not all Range Rover Classic.

its an lt230. youve probabley got it all sorted by now but FWIW...

try to get one from the same age and type of vehicle if you can, theres some sublte changes between them, 90% of the changes mean nothing and its a one for one swap.

If you're planning on going a lift and bigger tyres on the disco try to get the same vintage tcase out of a defender. its got a slightly higher gear ratio so wont work the engine as hard.

Also Disco2 transfers dont have a speedo cable output which you might need.
