    rough idle issue TD5

the D2 has had a rough idle issue for the time ive owned it.
ive cleaned all sensors, tried 2 maps, swapped all 5 injectors, the injector harness has been changed twice before i got the car. there isnt any sign of oil at the ecu. its even got a new MAF.
now i saved a GV file at idle and there are only 2 annomolies. cylinder 3 and 5. everything else is as it should be.
    fuel screen shot..doc
the values for cylinders 1,2 and 4 are very close, but 3 and 5 are all over the place with big spikes and cylinder 3 sits alot lower compaired to the other 4 readings.
oh and dont mind the spike at the end of the idle line(purple) that was me blipping the accelerator.

    so who has what ideas?

Here in the UK i use forte diesel treatment for things like this. It really does seem to work on the TD5 and i have had some injectors with readings as high as 21 come down to single figures after its use. It really isnt just another additive that does nothing. Dont know if you can get it in oz but there is lots on ebay uk, somebody will post to you.

been using a good quality cleaner/additive for 6000+klms, and a second set of injectors from a good ''known'' td5 have been in and running with the same outcome. im sure its not the injectors but more what contributes to their opperation.

Have you checked the engine harness at the ECU ?
How smooth is the engine at other speeds ?

engine runs fine everywhere else, just uses way too much fuel.

i have the latter issue with our td5 disco... need to do some comparisons to the deefer to see if i can find where.

If i remember right landy andy had hell with his td5 sucking fuel.. i know he solved it... just dont know where.. and how. I think it was the maf or map sensor?

Be interested to see if you solve the fuel thing....

would love to solve the fuel thing...600k's is a good tank in the disco
map and boost mod are the only sensors im yet to change, they show up as being fine..but so did the MAF.

I went with a genuine MAF.Improved the fuel use.I cleaned the sensor on the inlet manifold,MAP??? even better fuel.
Put a NNN chipped Defender ecu in to replace the MSB unit.Went like a scalded cat but lots wouldnt work,ie cruise aircon temp gauge turbo modulator.
Had it recalibrated to suit the D2 and the tune wasnt any good, not alot better than standard.A new ecu map was done by Beechboro 4x4(they supplied the NNN and re tuned,Autologic mapping).
Have HEAPS of power,900ks tankfull again.I got down to the 500/600 mark!!!

Have you replaced the turbo modulator Phil????
Only around $35.00 for a new one.
    Worth a try???
Wouldnt expect it to cause a rough idle.
    Another thought.
What is the idle RPM????.In cold weather they idle faster till warm.May be worth looking into the temp sensors??? Mine is throwing temp sensor faults since the NNN ECU was installed.Replaced the one where the top hose meets the head, same faults.Re-fit the original ECU no faults!!!!
    GOODLUCK
