    SLS disengage & removal

    Hi guys,
I'm replacing the airbags in the rear of my D2 and i have a question.
Removing the airbags and replacing them with springs is easy enough but what is necessary to remove the SLS system itself, including the bloody warning light on the dash?
I've done some searching but havent hit on anything helpful thus far. Hoping you guys might be able to shorten the process for me and my complete lack of computer skills.
    Cheers
    Mat

Hi, I am pretty sure that you will need a Nanocom to tell the SLABS ECU that the air suspension is no longer there.

Someone, I am sure, will be along shortly with a more definitive answer to your question.

Question for you thou, why are you removing the SLS system?

    Correct as above
But why remove a reliable system for a boring coil setup

Eliminates potential for something else to go wrong. I started Monday last week with the intention of changing the oil & replacing the hose between the water pump & the thermostat. Got that done only to find that in the process of flushing the radiator out (homestyle with a hose) the gasket in the underside of the throttle body went. Wait another day for the part, replace that, brilliant, done & dusted. Went for a drive, pulled in at servo for juice of course (V8 Model) walked out to find the tow bar about on the ground. Rang a friend, he said jump up & down on the tow bar immediatly after ive hit the button to pump the bags up, worked this time, got me the 60 odd Kms home. Bags stayed up all night, half way to work, theyre gone again and that was Saturday, theyve been down since. Compressor wont run, checked the appropriate relays and fuses. No Luck

Boring maybe, reliable, Definitly. Got a trip planned and although i have total care with the RACV, id rather not have the hassle with a 2 year old & a 6 year old and a missus that doesn't care what it is as long as it gets us where we are going. Systems have multiple components, components that can fail, springs may be boring but very simple

Your choice, but coils aren't infallible.
Seen high end top quality coils collapse, fracture and bend.
One friend had a coil snap at 100km/h on his big trip.
Coil was less than 2000km old.

Airbags are good for about 100k no worries.
Just replace bags and fit new compressor.
System will be good for another 100k+
At 200,000km the Sls would be one of the least worrying aspects.

I wouldnt swap my SLS for coils ever. Its one of the great reasons for buying the D2.

If you choose to keep the SLS, do it now and act now, before you burn out your compressor.

    Cheers

For the life of me I will never understand this, the money your about to spend on new coils and etaining plates would replace the old bages with new ones.

Only wish I could fit the SLS to my coil D2, after looking at how Icefyres SLS/ACE D2 performed on our Cape York trip, really envious

    Your choice I guess
