Thread: Back door hinges

The hinges can be acquired separately. Contact Triumph Rover Spares in South Australia and talk to Phil and he send you up a pair.

I have also just looked at mine, all you need to do is drill the 2 rivets on the bottom hinge, unbolt the hinges from the body. That removes the entire door and then remove the 2 round black caps on the inside of the door near the hinges to access the bolt holding the hinge to the door. Presto hinge off.

New hinges back on in reverse order and re-rivet the bottom hinge. Then comes the fun and games to realign the door. It will take to a hour or so.

As Tony says. they aren't difficult to swap, but you are best off doing the hinges 1 at a time with a second person holding the door steady during the process, even supporting the door in an open position on a 'saw horse' or similar.

The wiring loom inside the door is near on impossible to get out to in order to remove the door entirely, as the plugs get jammed in a narrow section near the lower door hinge.

Also, I suspect Series 1 Disco hinges are the same except for the rivet

Ok so i got the hinges today thanks to Aaron at Jag Rover spares kelvin grove and the only thing that concerns me is riveting them back on. Im not so sure if im gonna have a gun big enough or rivets big enough. Do you think it could be possible to use a bolt and nylock nuts instead? OR just bite the bullet and get a big rivet gun?
