    I have had the cooler lines replaced before by some sneaky luck.

    the swage had failed on the threaded connection not the hose side, I got away with it as being replaced as part of a "fixed item" which was covered and not a "hose" which was specifically not covered when the replacement part (the cooler) came in it came in with the hoses.

    Apparently this a common problem..It happened to me whilst heading South on the freeway in Perth near the interchange.. I had to battle across 5 lanes of traffic with my flashers on to get to the southside emergency lane..not a pretty site..called my Rover man, got picked up promptly by the RAC.. items replaced ..on road next morning..saw LandyAndy last week and he told me a simple knock will do it..he has a fix for it...had just had the car serviced at a Land Rover dealer..was not happy with what had been done..less happy now that this has happened

    Yes happened to me too.realised very quickly that I was loosing drive and was able to pull over.
    Heaps of tranny oil everywhere.Cooler Hose failed,no damage to auto,it all happens so fast that as stated when it runs out of fluid it shuts down and mostly no lasting damage,as long as you don`t rev the crap out of it and pull over quick smart.

    OK I accept the words of wisdom in the last few posts. Looks like it was probably just coincidence after all.

    Just seemed a bit sus so close to when the fluid was changed.

    Ok so this is what happened to mine today.

    Cruising along at about 60. Total loss of power, no response from the throttle (engine at idle). I coasted to the side of the road, put in neutral and tried to increase the revs. It climbed slowly to about 18000 rpm, popped, farted and missfired and began chucking out smoke from the exhaust (somtimes white sometimes black).

    It will sit at idle fine but as soon as its put in drive it moves slower than walking pace and missfires.

    It does have a gearbox leak but I'm not convinced a box issue would make it missfire. Any clues? These things always happen at the wrong time. Was supposed to be going to Geelong in the morning and then moving house next week.

    Using reading as my only source of knowledge on the Td5; it could be oil in the ECU harness.

    I did the harness bout 10000 k ago. I hoped it would last longer than than that. The car is bout 5 k from me now so I'll have a squize when I get time. I checked the turbo pipe and found it de laminated and almost sucked itself inside out.

    I'll source a new one and hope thats all it was.

    Just the 3 amigo's, manifold studs and the minor vibration to go. You gotta love querky cars
