Putting it as simply as possible,
The belt tension is automatic, if its not tight enough then the tensioner is either faulty, or full of "dirt" and not moving as much as it should.
Could "try" to remove and clean up and see if it improves, failing that its a new one. I personally would not consider a tensioner to go weak at 80,000 km a surprise, they work hard during their life.
It "should" require a GOOD push with a spanner to relieve the tension.
