D2 HORN GREMLIN??
My 2000 D2 Landrover TD5 awoke us Sun night with the horn blaring at 2am. Went on for about 10 minutes before I got it off by puting the key in the ignition (remote keypad didn't seem to disable it). It wasn't the actual alarm as the lights weren't flashing and the engine would actually start while the horn was blaring? Went back to bed and it happened again about an hour later. Found a spanner and disconnected the battery. Next morning got it running and used the car. Mon night the whole thing happened again and I disconnected the battery again. Vehicle now parked down the back with the battery disconnected. Any suggestions? Could it be linked to a loose positive battery terminal lead as even when the hex nut is completely tight, you can still just turn the clamp on the terminal??

Was it raining???
I had the same thing. I traced it to the rain coming in, dripping onto the steering wheel and shorting out the button on the horn.
If it wasn't, an easy way of disconnecting it is to pull the fuse instead... You'll find it in the fuse box behind the battery compartment.

horn gremlin
Could be a crook horn button, right on the edge of going off, they are`nt the greatest, and with a few Ks.on they seem to get a bit doubtful.
As to the terminal connection,if you can move it it is not good enough, you probably will have a high resistance...not good.It needs to be tight.
whether that has any thing to do with peculiar horn behaviour who knows?
but it is a Landrover after all!
Cheers....trev.

embarissing moment
Mine did the exact same thing. A fully packed motel in Towoomba,3 am. Convinced it was the alarm, stopped as soon as I woke enough to get out the door. Checked for burglers & went back to bed. Same again at 5am. Every body got an early start that day.
Eventually found the R/H horn button slightly off centre and partially depressed. Squared it up & it popped back out. Been OK since. It just need that cold misty air of the early morning to cause the contact to make.
