    Radiator Woes

    Woke up this morning to find the contents of the radiator resoviour pooled on the street below D2. The bottle wasnt completely empty but a significant amount of coolant was missing, couple of hundred mL.

    No leak from radiator, no apparent holes in top hose. Squeezed it and coolant bubbled back up into the bottle.

    Im not the most mechanically minded but when i got under to have a look the leak was dripping from the back of the engine bay not anywhere near the front. is that significant?? I would have thoiught if it was the hoses or radiator the leak would be in and around the radiator itsel. Was definitely coolant as its was green and part of the flow seemed to be down the bell housing and over the front diff.
    Any ideas, Im guessing Im not going to work monday. Will it get 7km to the mechanic to sit and wait to get fixed??

    Matt, Common is to see Td5 heater hose/s rubbed through at the rear of the engine, near the acoustic cover, and / or the fuel cooler/warmer O rings. Also, there is a small hose under the turbo at the oil cooler housing that can leak too.

    Remove the acoustic cover and have a feel around. DO NOT try and drive it unless you are 100% sure there is coolant in the engine and head. Just because its in the bottle doesen't meen it hasn't got an air lock etc.

    Flat bedded to mechanic Monday, rec day gone
    3 days off the road
    $1300
    new fuel cooler
    new radiator
    new hoses
    5hrs labour

    new gear box three weeks 5K

    these things dont fail by halves now do they

    SWMBO work 7:30(rouse hill windsor rd to kid hospital)
    me work 10:15 (james rouse drive victoria road to roseberry)
    leave work 15:00
    pick up SWBMO 16:45
    pick up D2 17:30

    the fun is running out
