ive got 35w in the ute and 55w in the disco, there isnt much differance.
dont think heat will be an issue, and the hi beam indicator will still work as the trigger feed for the switching for both ballasts comes from the OE headlight plug.
there deffinatly a good light but be ware...you get ''flashed'' alot more often

Because they are blinding to oncoming drivers, not to mention they are not legal...

Depends on how you've got them adjusted.

In over two years of driving with a 35W kit installed, I've never been "flashed" once (other than the night I installed them, and hadn't yet got the adjustment set up right).

You do need to adjust them down a little lower than when conventional Halogen globes were used, but the benefit is still worth it.

For the original post - I'd stick to 35W mate. There is absolutely no benefit to installing anything more powerful, and all that you will achieve is to attract unwanted attention.

they are adjusted lower than the old bulbs.. i think its just a sydney thing! i usta get flashed in the 90, it didnt have HID's.

I just replaced the sealed beam headlights in my work Troopy with aftermarket semi sealed beam lights.
I felt I had to because I was getting "flashed" by about 1/10 of oncoming cars (Stuart Highway). Even with the lights pointing almost straight at the ground at the front of the car they were blinding for oncoming traffic.

Considering that HID converted lights are much brighter than sealed beams and they still have light scatter issues, I would personally never fit HID bulbs to standard headlights that were not designed for them.

The only exception I would make is in high beam only lights (not H4 high / low lights). They won't be turned on when there is oncoming traffic so light scatter won't be an issue.

I've done the conversion, 35W was my choice for the headlights..

Never been flashed, and never adjusted the beam angle..

Going on my conversion which is the same, oh yeah, big improvement, I also have 35w Hi beam and HID Lightforce spotties, do the words "night into day ring a bell"
