Do a search in a few areas on this forum for some ideas and answers.....plenty of past threads on custom rear bars, lift kits and lots of other changes you can make. Look under the Projects, Good Oil and Members Vehicles areas.
I'm not trying to fob you off, but there really is a wealth of ideas and info there and it will give you an opportunity to see just what can be done.....then all you need worry about is the costs

The "bars" issue you mentioned is probably removing the anti roll bars to get more flex and wheel travel etc but it will affect the vehicle's handling overall and some things need to be taken into account such as whether the car has ACE fitted. Exactly what you wish to use the car for has a bearing on what modifications to carry out.

yes i know there is lots of valuable information on here
ive searched a bit, and tried typing a new thread called 'rear bumpers' but not actually posting it, just seeing what ideas come up.
i have read so much in the past few days and it is all great information
with regards to suspension, there are so many threads and it has helped heaps! i just wanted some more specific info on prices and quality... i may have missed a thread somewhere that has all of this... i probably did as there are so many of them! as for rear bumper, i actually searched for it, but was unlucky and couldnt find anything... but i will have a better search through Projects, Good Oil and Members Vehicles areas.

as for removing bars, that sounds like what they were talking about. and i dont believe is has ACE, although i didnt really know too much about this, i pick it up today, so i can confirm, but i dont think it does.

I think alien d2 meant SWMBO, which stands for She Who Must Be Obeyed (from Rumpole of the Bailey tv show).

Fitting a Bar to the front as well?

    Easiest, OME...

Good springs, well rated... Decent shocks for the $$$

    220Lb fronts
    300-340lb progressive rears..

Will do the job nicely allround with towing boat, decent flex, nice ride...

Dont pull your swaybars... The rear is fine, for real flex look at a disconnect for the front.

But my opinion, reasonable flex and TruTracs or Lockers will get you further, easier....

I once sought advice here on shocks.... all I got was Bilstein Bilstein Bilstein....guess what.... they are fantastic! If you're going to lift it, just ask for extended shafts, they are the same price.

As for the 'Removing Bars' I think they might be talking about removal of the front crossmember which runs under the front drive shaft. I took mine off...and recently put it back on. This is a structural support for the chassis and will allow for unwanted chassis flex if removed (or so I've been told by someone who has spent more time under Landies than just about anyone I know). I had a spacer made so that there is no chance of interference with the drive shaft... maybe it was needed, maybe not.

Well plucked up the courage and asked the wife, a shade over $1000 for the springs/shocks/damper.
    All OME from ARB.
100% happy. carries the weight well at the expence off off road "softness", tends to flex less when running light.

    Thanks for the promt wardy1.
With lift the front drive shaft can touch the cross member at full flex.
I've spaced mine with a peice of flat steel and fitted longer bolts as the old ones had rounded the heads when removed.

Have a look down into the door.
I had this happen on a mates car and it had just gone down with the window
Draged it back up and glued it to the frame
