    What Batteries - Dual Batteries

I just sourced a dual battery tray for the D2 that replaces the extisting battery tray and removes the jack box etc. It is designed to fit two Optima Dual Batteries side by side.

Can anyone recomend what batteries to use?

It has been recomended to use a Optima Red Top as the main and Optima Blue Top (Marine) as the auxilary.

I have seen this setup with two red tops and also with two yellow top Optima's. The more I seem to research, the more confused I get, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Optima are good batteries, I would use a red top for the main start battery and yellow for the auxillary, good for running fridges and also more than capable of powering your winch.

Also try Odyssey batteries. Not cheap, but they will take a lot of abuse, including heat and irregular charging.

"imo" if your going to spend out on Optimas, then the Yellow top spins the TD5 over no probs at all, infact its CCA value is almost if not the same as the Redtop, so why not have 2 yellows, they will take more "abuse" than just a starter Redtop.

Twin yellows in mine....so far so good......

    Thanks for the advice.

The battery tray is sourced from the US, a company called Aefob. It was not cheap but it was delivered from the US to Brisbane within five working days.

It wouldnt be too hard to make one up, I just didnt have the time to pull apart the car, measure and fabricate one.

As mentioned, I have seen dual yellow tops, blue tops and red tops used. I will check out the Odyssey Batteries as well.

You Dont run a winch from your Aux. battery....

Always wire winch to the Main battery.
