Issues arising from D1 transfer case in a D2

I have picked up a D1 transfer case with CDL to install in the D2. I have since found out that the D2 has a few sensors and switches that where not included on the D1 transfer case.

So my question is, has anyone installed a D1 case into a D2 and what issues may arise if known from not having the High-Low switch etc. installed.

As far as I am aware the case itself is a straight bolt in fit and the D1 lever is easily modified to fit into a D2.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had a front output housing installed from a RR that had no high/low selector switch. This prevented the HDC from operating (and also prevents some electronic transmission setting changes from happening when in low gear, so I understand).
Anyway, I installed a magnet and reed switch on the selector stick, underneath the leather boot, and wired the switch to piggyback the factory wiring from the original switch. Turned out very neat and reliable - you wouldn't know it was there
    Now everythings back to normal.
Hope this helps (and you can actually understand this).

    Thanks for the information.

It has been suggested to me that I could drill and tap the D1 output housing in the required location and install the factory D2 switch, this may be a neater option.

Any old smallish limit switch would do the same job.
I just happened to have a reed switch handy.

mate -if you search there are threads here on this. I used a D1 output housing and just spliced in a switch - dash mounted - to tell the SLABS that it is in low range...its sweet actually cause I can use HDC in high range....

    Cheers

It would be good going down a steep slippery hill with a big boat on the rear...

But no I use it for keeping the shuttle valves earning their keep in the Wabco modulator down my driveway without having to shift to low....160,000 and no problems with the replacement unit that LR put in at about 20,000k and I put that down to flushing new fluid through every 40-50k and working the valves every couple of weeks.

    Cheers
PS. The HDC pulses the brake lights so its not all bad
