If it lights up and nothing happens check the vac lines behind the pump. If it doesn't light up start in the fuse boxes. Mine had a crack in the vac line between pump and actuator. Can't get tubes anymore just replace with vac hose.

I know that you've gotta be doing over 40kms/ before the cruise will engage but if you're on the freeway you should be well and truly over that.
My cruise doesn't work properly either, I set mine and then it just gradually loses speed till I get sick of it and put me boot back on the "go" pedal.
Don't quote me on this but I think the cruise works on a vacuum to hold the throttle caple in the desired position and with mine it's like the vac isn't strong enough to hold it?
I'll be watching this one closely to see what others have to say.
    Cheers
    Mat

The vacuum hose is easy enough to check for leaks. Disconnect it from the pump & suck to see if the diaphragm draws the cable in. Hold the vacuum for a minute or so. If the cable stays put & doesn't slowly draw back, the hose has to be ok.

After confirming the cable tension & vacuum hose is ok, I'd be checking the vacuum pump itself. I swapped mine with a second hand unit & all was good again. I don't know if the old pump can be serviced or not.

Have a good look around for a 2nd hand vacuum pump if you need to replace it.

I was quoted $500ish for a new one, so found a 2nd hand one from the US on Ebay for $85 including postage.

    TD5 Diesel or V8 Petrol????
You switch the binnicle switch on,it has lane markings on it.A LED should illuminate. You then hit set on the steering wheel. You can adjust the speed up/down with the set button.Resume switches it in out.
TD5s dont have vaccum operation, its all done via the ECU.
If it is a TD5 I can hook my Nannocom up to see what the issue is.Look in the electronic diagnostics area for a list of owners with Nanocoms etc that can help, you may find one a bit closer.Busselton to Williams isnt too bad a drive.
Nannocom is a TD5 only diagnostic tool.

Happened to my td5 yesterday. It was the break sensor above the break pedal .Its a little plastic button that slots into a hole and turns 90 degres to stay put .if it is not located properly it tells the computer that the break is being applied. Ic also caused mine to bunny hop badly at lov revs. Hope this helps.
