Rob, I've bought all my filter kits off Ebay ... and I think the Mahle one's were purchased as oil filters only (not in a kit) thru Coffs Harbour 4WD (again, on Ebay)

Cost me $11ea incl' postage from memory. I think they are of german origin ... VW, Porsche, BMW, etc ...

    You could ask here...

The Mahle ones are a bit shorter (1/2") and on my Td5 give enough cleance to get the filter in & out without removing the hose.

My last one was a Cooper, and I don't recall it being a hassle to get in, but I changed it last weekend and it was a bitch to get out as it was hard on the hose!

Changed oil over weekend, mine had a Mahle type filter on it ,i replaced with a coopers, which i got in without moving any hoses, the oil leak upon closer inspection looks like is comming out of ACE hose, where the rubber piece goes onto metal, the crimp seems to be leaking ,so prob get Pirtek or someone to make new ones..and,,,,I fitted the snorkle aswell !!!! Happy days Ross

Congrats Ross ... nice news about the filters ...

    ... typical land rover tolerances ... +/- 25mm

I'm working on a snorkel, but SWMBO keeps running the "ugly truck" line on me ... she doesn't seem to understand "functional" ... and I just keep vacuming Stockton Beach out of the airbox !

Damn ,havent been out the beach for ages, must try the new one out there, yeh i just wonder if the snorkle makes much difference economy wise too, it did on the old 300, currently this one is doing 10L per 100 on the dot!

    That's good mileage.

I'm doing around 9L/100 Highway, maybe 11-13L/100 around town ... and my long term on/offroad average is 12L/100 ... auto, with a lead foot swmbo!

    Worst I've done is 18.5L/100 !!! .... Stockton Beach
