I removed the springs and Discovery is discharging the battery!

After removing the air springs, the battery drains very quick! What can I do? Heeeelllp. I'm in the interior of Brazil and there's Land Rover dealership here! Sorry my english!.

Today I spent the morning in the workshop along with mec. We were pulling each fuse / relay and measuring the amperage. I removed the sensors hindquarters, too. WHEN I removed the fuse that powers the lights and the internal timer of them, the amperage dropped to 20mA.Entretanto, after a walk on the court gave the measure a pivo of 580 mA and then lowered to 20 mA! After repeating this test twice, I left it in the workshop as I leave it here at home. Monday I go back to measure the voltage and amperage. If you can not anything, I bring to the garage, unload everything and leave the day before traveling to P. Alegre, do a bridge and go to the dealership or someone else tell me that, to reprogram or replace the central blessed blessed bags back!

have you checked that the voltage goes up after you start the car ? is it charging ok ? some times the alternator can discharge into itself if the diods are blown.

so is there power going to the lights ? have a look on the electrical scamatic to see what other electrical items are on the same fuse as the lights. this will give you something to look for . eg some times the stereo is on the same fues as the lights. ect.

let us know how you go.

    cheers, jeff.

Have you turned off the "air suspension" in the computer?
Maybe the computer is turning the air compresor on to lift the air bags and it's just running full time.
Unplug the compresor and see if that stops the discharge.
    Just a thought.

Let us know the outcome, sounds like a hard one to trace
    Cheers, Kyle

I would look at the fuse panel under the bonnet and remove the relay for the SLS(self leveling suspension)
You will get a warning light and probably an annoying chime.
If you can find somebody with a Nanocom it is possible to change suspension settings from airbags to coil springs.

I've turned off the compressor: I removed the relay, disconnect all quechega the compressor. I removed the sensors on both sides. I removed the relay SLS (which is in the engine compartment). The alternator is charging fine. I do not know what to do I think a dealer and reprogram the computer. All that's missing it. But as I am at a distance of 300km, will go in my vacations. Until then I will testing and thinking what to do

Does your Discovery have ACE(active cornering enhancement)??? If you dont know, the power steer bottle has 2 lids, one to fill the power steer the othe the ACE oils.
If so,my D2 has a fault where the ACE ECU wont let the electronics in the vehicle "go to sleep".My battery will go flat in 2 or 3 days if I dont remove the ACE relay. If I remove it the vehicle will sit for weeks without a flat battery.
You can here the ACE relay clicking every 20 seconds or so if this is your issue.

I convinced myself that the light panel is part of normality, so I live peacefully with it.

    Hi Andrew,

Do you still have this problem ? If not, how did you fix it ? I have a 99 td5 auto with ACE and I removed the rear bags and put in springs as well. the same problem and battery drains in less than 48 hours. Can also hear the relay click exactly like you mentioned in this post.

    Cheers,

    Keyur
