Next years production starts around this time of year so it could well be a 2001MY (model year) built in mid 2000.

    If it is a '1A', then it's definitely a 2001MY.
    2000.5 cars are still 'YA'.

I've just checked my little black book & the first 1A received here was 291### & was built in July 2000. Yours must be a similar VIN (last 6 digits).

    Hi everyone!

I am into and driving my Land Rover!

Scouse: Last 6 digits of my vin = 290XXX

This following is good information for everyone. After speaking to VERY HELPFULL people on this forum, some very helpfull land rover dealers and of course some completely incompetant people at land rover who had no clue what they were talking about I managed to piece together the following.

I obtained the EKA and Key cut code from great people at land rover.

I then went to an automotive lock smith and got a suitable key blank and had that cut for ($9.80 for both). I cannot speak more highly of RIVER CITY LOCK SMITHS in OXLEY (Brisbane, QLD).

When I actually got into the car and pulled out the spare fob (uncut) but coded I took that straight to them and they cut the blade. They didn't even charge me for it! They said that they had already cut one for me today with that code, the second would be free. Service like that now a days is SO rare.

I then followed the procedure provided by biggin to the letter using my new metal key cut with the code and my own EKA.

The only reason you would have to enter this code multiple times is if you made a mistake. I entered it once. The car opened and started immediately.

I thank everyone who contributed to this thread.

I even learned that my disco is a 2001MY!

    Cheers,
    Adam.
