Thread: TD5 Auto slow to engage

I'd start with checking the fluid level, then fluid and filter change.
Sounds like you may be losing fluid somewhere - probably the hoses or hose connections.
If it were me, I would not be driving it. The transmissions are not cheap to replace.

Thanks Biggin. I have just had the vehicle serviced at Neil Buckby's (Launceston)and all the oil leaks fixed.
I have recently had the drive plate replaced and the oil pump inthere replaced as well. Buckby's are at a loss as to cause without stripping the gearbox.

Here's a thought.

The transmission fluid pickup that attaches to the underside of the transmission filter seals with an o-ring ... if it's dislodged/broken, will be causing the pickup to suck air and not prime ... or prime very slowly ... likewise for the o-ring on the top of the filter.

Drain the fluid, drop the pan and inspect ... quick & simple to do!
