			Hawkeye Diagnosis

					Hi Everyone - First post.

I've been checking this site out for several weeks & in that time have learnt more about my D2 than in the 10 or so years that I've owned it - Great site with heaps of knowledgable members!!

I have a 1999 D2 TD5 ES Auto, bought new, stock standard motor & ECU, 145 klms.

I recently purchased a Hawkeye diagnostic tool & am still in early stages of interpreting it. I would be interested in comments about the following 'live data' whilst driving diagnosis......

AIRFLOW - 0.00 kg/hr (constant)
MAF SENSOR - 0.09v (constant)
EGR VACUUM MODULATOR 0.00% (constant)
Fault Code Logged - 3014 AIR FLOW LOW

I presume the above suggests my MAF is shot? I tried cleaning it with contact cleaner without result.

AMBIENT PRESSURE 101 kpa
MANIFOLD PRESSURE 104 kpa (idle) 215 kpa max (driving)
TURBO WASTEGATE 7.81% (always maxes at that reading)

I'm not sure what the wastegate percentage reading indicates. Also wondering if my boost could be upped a little by adjusting the wastegate arm?

I'd welcome comments & suggestions regarding the above.

Cheers

The airflow meter should be reading all the time even at idle, if it never goes of "0" then its duff.
Fitting a new one will make it drive better anyway, so I would recommend replacing that first before you "mess" with the boost.
As far as the EGR goes, the vehicle "may" have been D-Egr'd, if it has then thats why, if it hasn't, then do it asap as your engine will love you for it.

					Thanks for your reply mate.....

It still has EGR but is being blanked in the next couple of days - MAF sensor is also being replaced but was wondering if a MAF sensor is still required with the EGR blanked?

I'm still in the dark as to what a TURBO WASTEGATE reading of 7.81% (according to Hawkeye) means. That is the maximum reading that it shows when running "Live Data" whilst driving.

Is anyone familiar with a wastegate percentage reading & what it means?

Thanks.

According to the Faultmate Lucas TD5 diagnostic info - (available through blackbox solutions help for download) it says the following:
Turbo wastegate duty ratio: Under turbo boost conditions the duty ratio being applied to the waste gate solenoid (N112) is shown. The higher the duty ratio the less air being bled away from the turbine
blades hence the higher the boost pressure.
Sorry but no further idea about why I'd want to know this...
Cheers,
Matthew
