i replaced the rear one with a led bulb from dick smith, about $14.
there are a couple of sizes, go for the one slightly larger than original, tight fit but big improvement on light output.

I put some in and I HATE them. The car is now moon light white like a hospital. Over time the LED's die and the light becomes less however the main point is the horrible light. What I now want, is bright yellow light. Perhaps you can get yellow LED's.

You need to get the SMD type flux LED's.

Hi Aaron,my mate and i tried them in our d1s but the dimmer function on the front int light burned them out,crude electronics in dimmer,back ones were fine!,havent tried in my D2 yet but new type LEDs might be ok,get warm white (golden white ) if you don't like the white,I use golden white in model loco headlights and they look great and the decoders dim them correctly,let us know how you go as I;m keen to try them again,cheers

I bypassed my dimmer switch in the RRC and they work a treat. Still trying to work out why you needed a dimmer switch, it was never that bright even fully wound up. Only ever put out 11volts max which is enough to shorten the life of the globes anyway. Even with normal globes, bypassing it made quite a difference. Just fiddly working out which wire is what.....
