    Question Bull Bar and Airbags

I'm looking for a bull bar or may get one built for my Disco 2 and was wondering what do you need on a specific bull bar to be compliant with the duel air bags ?

To be airbag suitable the bullbars need crush cans fitted.
Basicly it's the mount that attatches the bar to the chassis, it has a "crushable" section in it.
They takes some of the impact first before the airbag sensors notice the rate of impact.
Copied from here...Bull Bar Design & Engineering | ARB 4x4 Accessories
    "Air Bag Compatibility:
With an air bag equipped 4x4, it is essential that the vehicle's crush rate and air bag triggering is not altered when a bull bar is installed. To ensure compatibility, ARB assesses each vehicle's frontal crush characteristics and replicates the crush rate into the design of each air bag compatible bull bar and its mounting system. This method enables engineers to achieve maximum possible vehicle and passenger protection without affecting the crash pulse. ARB has invested heavily in vehicle crash barrier tests to validate the performance and compliance of its air bag compatible bull bars."

No I don't work for ARB, I just used them as an example to help answer the question.
    Cheers, Kyle

Not all bullbars have crush cans.
My D2 has a ECB alloy bullbar,no crushcans, has the D2 certification sticker saying its airbag compatable.

I was thinking of steel bars
Wonder if being alloy it doesn't need the cans as usualy they bend easier than steel given the same impact?

    I guess so.
When I bought the D2 I contacted ECB because I was concerned the crush cans were not fitted.
    Not needed was the reply.
