Compartment between the battery and the bottle jack.

Just wondering what goes in the compartment between the battery and the bottle jack.

The tool kit is too long. So I just put the wheel brace in there and the rest of the kit is in the rear door bin.

Also how do you get the wheel nut covers off? The plastic cup thing has some of the flanges broken off.

on the TD5'S the ECU for the engine sits in there.

You only need to remove the wheel nut covers off the lock nuts (they have a dimple) on the others even thought they may be loose the wheel brace will fit & undo them.

a small screw driver may work if the tool is broken.

    Wheel Nut Covers

Easy, forget they are even covers and just start taking the nut off the car.

They either stay on or come off once you have a go at undoing the wheel nuts.

Pretty sure only one comes off anyway and that's the security nut which in all fairness should come off and stay off. I have put mine in the shed on the shelf for where I keep all the crap. (It's a holding point before the next spring clean).

    Regards
    Andrew

the chrome caps are designed to stay on. Only found out after I changed a flat and sliced my hand open on the sharp metal getting them off with a screwdriver.
Also my bottle jack didn't work because they are not designed to be stored on the side and the fluid had drained out. How long has land rover been around and they provide a safety devise that is stored wrong as standard. Not something you'd check...but check you're jack people.

Thanks for that!!! Fortunately I carry a Bushranger X jack for those non standard Jack occassions and back up!!!... Just as well because I checked and found that my Jack has basically 'drained' itself... Is there a way of re-filling it....
