Thanks for that info- have looked at their 'additional seating' area and they stock the same seating through retroseating that I have already been quoted on :-)

    cheers,

I have most of the factory third row parts.

Seats, Belts, Roof Head Rest, Roof Trim.

I do not have the side trim panels though as I kept those in the car and drilled the drivers side one to accept the storage box.

The std five seat trim can easily be modified to suit, just a couple of cut-outs required.

    Question

    Hi All,
Hope you are well. It's been some time since needing to revisit this and with bubs due shortly now is as good a time LOL...

I've gone through the RAVE CD and found lots of pictures relating to installation of additional seats in the cargo area, however... I am just wondering if anyone can point me to text instructions to accompany the pictures in the RAVE CD. I looked but couldn't find any...

VIC Roads aside from being useless with wait times on the phone do have information on their site which I found useful. More relating to the categories that you can have additional seating installed for of which we are going to go with category 3 seating. This specifically relates to a child up-to the age of 8 male and within a 50 percentile range. Ultimately this determines the head/leg space and is different from Cat 1 (adult) or Cat 2 (12 yo child)...
(we don't have a need to carry an adult in the back and probably wont be in the country by the time they are that age!)

I also found the ADR 34 doc useful for understanding what the leg/height requirements are also.... all of which will be printed and provided to the engineer looking at this for us.

I haven't gone with original landrover seats for this area which yes I know would be alot easier, however.... I spoke with landrover this morning and was advised that none of the seats come in kit form and are not showing up in the parts manual = they are not making them/stocking them anymore.

So anyway... my Dad has a pair of 'as new' cargo seats from a landcruiser that he had in storage in the attic for 20 odd years that he never got round to using so he has given those to me to use. At this stage it will most likely be one so we can still fit the pram in unless we do two factoring in category 3 leg space requirements which 'may' allow the pram to sit behind them??... but that's all for the engineer to figure out.

The next bit I need help / advice on is ... where in the RAVE CD should I look for information about what to look out for if needing to drill through the cargo floor area (wiring/fuel lines/hoses etc????) to fit these?

I'm not too sure what the suggestion/s will be from the engineer looking into this but want to equip myself with as much information as possible (both from VICRoads and LR Rave manual) so they don't give me some BS story about what can and cant be done (if you get my drift) :-)

Thanks for your help.... again :-)

    Cheers,
    Lp

ps - really hope the above made sense!!

Each to their own but Cruiser third row seats are a lot lower to the ground and larger than disco ones as they are designed to take 3 people in the third row, and then there will be all that re-engineering to get them in. Mate, may I suggest either finding a set from a disco 2 or sell yours and purchase a 7 seater, would be less work and cheaper all round.

    Hi John,
Thanks for the reply, decided to scrap the 3rd row seat idea in the cargo area so we are just working with the 2 cruiser seats in that (cargo) area instead. Hubby thinks we should get rid of the landrover all together however I am not in a position to do that so need to do something that will work for us now.

With the 7 seaters, do folk use the boot door to get their kids in and out or do they fold down the single split fold seat from the second row and get kids in and our via that way?

We will be having a 2 year old and 3 year old in the cruiser seats (cargo area)and our 12 month old and newborn in the 2nd row seats all in anchored age appropriate seats.

    Cheers

We use the back door as there is enough of a gap to pass between.

The third row seats require lockdown striker in the floor, the retractable headrests, different side paneling and then of course the seats.
Your better off goig to an LR wrecker and retrieving the items from a 7 seater in the yard. These are generally the last desired items from any 7 seater wreck so should be a few around. Not a big job to change it out plus you will easily sell the storage bins from yours and get some coin back.
Then get hubby's to stick it all in as payback for opening his gob about "selling" it!!

    Cheers

    Andrew

It should be noted that if I leave this post on my screen for more than 3 seconds I get a blue screen of death.
