    D2 Bilstein Questions

    Hello all D2'ers
Look at that AUD$! like others I can't resist getting some billies ex U.S. and am hoping eshock will email me back a quote incl. freight as they promised. Their site was showing US$363.40 for a set of 4.
    But a couple of Qs
    1. Saw one comment on here that std height rears may need different valving for SLS. Correct?

    2. eshock shows:
    std. front--BE5 6046-H1 std. rear--BE5 6047-H1
but I have also seen references to H0 instead of H1 at other places.
Mine is a D2a with SLS & I don't want to order the wrong stuff.
    Any advice appreciated
    Cheers Discolaw

Mate I was just thinking the same yesterday!

Sorry I don't know much about suspension though.

I also have a 2004 D2a with SLS. Would be great if you could post up all the info, prices etc.

    Cheers,

My newly aquired D2a (SLS ACE) doesn't take speed humps with the suppleness of my Defender, so I suspect shocks may be required. Please be sure to post some prices and specs. I'll see what I can find out during the course of the day and report back later.

Uh oh--update. Eshocks have gone quiet and not got back to me with a quote +freight. Will try chasing them up, the $ won't stay up like this.
Seems the H1 ref. is front & H0 is rear.
Michael2---all the references to D2 bilsteins I've seen say they don't include ACE vehicles.

I'm delighted with the ride and handling of my new Koni Heavy track shocks. They work very well with SLS and ACE - the ride is supple and handling superb. We just got back from a drive from Melb - Yackandandah - Jindabyne - Perisher and back via Deadhorse gap. It's amazing how well the car took all those bends (corners flat) but still retains a supple ride.

I just did a Google and from some US online suppliers it's about US$ 550 for a set of 4 plus delivery. I paid about A$900 locally.
    Cheers

I the end I went with (non-sls) EFS,, and they were, um- firm.

I spoke to Quadrant Suspension today (Bilstein in Melbourne), and they don't do shocks for SLS and ACE equipped D2s.

Rovacraft has some Terrafirma shocks that are supposed to do the job.

If you look at the UK websites, they specify D2 shocks, then with ACE and no SLS, with ACE & SLS, with SLS and no ACE. Each type is a different p/n. That's for stock shocks. then they also advertise KONI and Bilstein shocks for D2s, but with no further detail about compatibility. The KONIs come in a +2" option.

I've sent a query, but as with everything overseas, I may or may not get a response. I've had times where I've bought something one week, and the following week they don't even answer an unrelated query.

I'll let you know if I learn any more.
