    Hi Ken,

    It's not that difficult:

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...placement.html

but who told you it needs replacing? is it related to your post on lack of TC and HDC? if so the dash lights should have come on - any news on this?

If the LR quote is to fix all these then maybe not so expensive

If you go ahead and then they find the hub also needs replacing then $$$$$$$$

Search this forum for 'amigos' and you'll find heaps of info

    Cheers
    Andrew

    wheel sensor

thanks andrew, the land rover dealer ran the car thru the test book and came up RHF wheel sensor was faulty, would it be worth checking for dirt etc first, yes it is related but I still dont get any warning lights on dash

    cheers

It may be an old error log that isn't current. If the dash light isn't coming on, then the ABS sensor should be working fine - there is a continual diagnostic on that part when the vehicle is moving. Personally, if the light wasn't coming on and the ABS/ETC/HDC is working properly then I wouldn't touch it.

'the land rover dealer ran the car thru the test book and came up RHF wheel sensor was faulty'

in my opinion that is a lazy, token diagnosis and should be restated as 'a faulty sensor signal has been logged (at some time)'

Your #1 problem is the dash lights should be on but aren't. Did the dealer have an opinion on why?

From the amigos posts here the causes can be many including:

    Dirty sensor connector
    Squealing disc pads
    Worn out rotors
    Faulty sensor
    Worn hub

and each thing you try to fix requires clearing the fault codes with a D2 specific scanner to see if the fault returns

but then you won't really know because your dash lights aren't working!

Please feel free to correct me anyone.

Anything in the tone ring will trigger it, and I suspect when the hub fails as you've mentioned, this is one of the causes for that situation with grease.

If the lights come on, you can turn the car off and then back on. If there is a current fault logged then the ABS light I think it is will stay on when you restart, but when you get up to 10kmh or so the SLABS computer will be checking the sensors anyway and if the fault is gone then the lights will go out on the dash and if the fault is current then the lights come on. Even if the lights are blown there is also a warning chime that accompanies the lights coming on.

    Thanks Slunnie,

his continuing problem is in a previous thread with TC and HTC not working and lights not coming on. But lights do work on engine starting then go out:

FYI I've had the 3 amigos come on without the audible alarm

hey guys, No I didnt ask the dealer as to why, I should have, yes its strange that no hdc and tc light comes on at all except when starting the veh and it does its pre sys check, the lights go out and the only warning I get is when I push the HTC button in low range and get the 3 pings, HTC and TC is definately not working. I know HTC only works in low but according to the handbook even in High the light should come on. the TC light should flash while TC is operating but no light has ever come on as I'm assuming that because the TC isnt working then the light wont come on, if its a sensor why doesnt the abs light come on except when the sys checks at the start

    cheers

Couldn't of said it better myself, was thinking the same thing. It reads as classic case of "Computer says no" diagnostics.
For $750 I would want someone who knows what he is doing apart from some token buttonology.

    That gets my vote.
