    Door and door seal

For some inexplicable reason my front passenger side door has developed an audible draught at speeds greater than 70kph.
Closer investigation revealed that the top front part of the window frame does not quite come into contact with the seal.
Is there an adjustment that can be made to make the top of the window frame sit closer to the seal.
All I can think of is winding the window down and belting the top of the frame with a rubber mallet. Perhaps this is the accepted Land Rover method, I only need another 2-3mm of movement in the top corner.
The door/door hinges seem to be set up pretty plumb.

My rear drivers side door does the same.
But mine looks to have had some previous extensive bodywork repairs to that side of the vehicle.

The best fix I have so far found is using the volume knob on the stereo!!

It's getting more and more like driving a Doofer every week!!

Not very helpful I know, but it IS Fri afternoon...

    Cheers,

I have spent many hours adjusting my RRC door because of this, and leaking, but I cannot get the door straight and the gap closed. So I now have the small gap of a few mm, some wind noise, the doors looking right, and no leaking. I would like to see if someone here has worked out a good idea.

i also have the problem but i know how it happened . It was done after i locked my keys in the car and the rac guy was trying to break in . He did assure me that wedging the door open would not dammage it but i never had any wind noise before.

I'm thinking perhaps I can put something behind the seal to make it sit prouder in that area. A piece of 6mm poly tube or something.
I'm not keen to try and bend the frame back in case I damage something, or will this work?

This may or may not help,,
but, I found the window when wound up, forces the frame to,, adjust.

a few years back the trick was to insert something into the round hollow of the seal--
this was on the rear door.
damned if I can remember what now,,

OK here is the used car trick

First check the door hinges are fine (open door fully and lift to see if it moves).
Second check that the door is locking/closing smothly on the catch.
Third recheck above is fine then if noise persists place knee on top edge of door trim with the window down and pull the frame towards you gently.
#little bit at a time till it fitts nice, to much to quick and the paint might crack#
Check the window still fitts nice and pretend you know nothing
    Cheers, Kyle

No this will not work, I have done it several times but the force of the rubber, even soft rubber is going to push the door frame outwards, also makes it impossible to slam shut. I like the fore mentioned bending idea.

    Possible Solution

    Biggin

I just completed changing the window regulator and there are five bolts which hold the window frame in there. Potentially some one has put the window in at a different angle or off the original alignment, easy to do. If you take the door panel off there should be a plastic dust sheet there. If this has been broken then someone has been in the door cavity and possibly the reason for the noise.

Anyhow you can make adjusts with the four bolts on the legs of the window frame. Shouldn't need to touch the centre one.

Before you try though you should just check the travel of your power window and remember how well and or bad it travels. If you try to adjust and don't get it right you'll notice the window moving slower and struggling to wind up or down which is not good. In any case you just re-tweak some more.

The good news is there's a fair bit of adjustment in the frame.

    Regards
    Andrew
