It used to be the barcode or security scanners at Amcal chemists that clashed with the LRs. It looks like you've found a couple more problem stores.
so im beginning to suspect something is going on at shopping malls and bunning stores. The remote key lock device just refuses to work when i am parked in these locations.every time ! saved me an absolute fortune but very inconvenient !
Have replaced batteries and the car locks everywhere but as stated !

No probem in Perth at Bunnings etc.Although I have another key gone U/S due to the micro switch falling off inside. We have had it repaired previously and it looks like it was just superglued back on. The acetic acid has attacked the circuit board and its now stuffed. I need to buy a new fob but have heard there is difficulty in matching keys with the car etc. I will have to search the threads to see what i can find. I noticed someone selling them on Ebay for 29 pounds.

You just need to make sure you get the right frequency. Either 315 or 433 MHz. It's linked to the year model but it also pays to look at Microcat.
When you put the VIN in you should be able to find the right frequency but be careful as the information can be interpreted incorrectly.
By the way I recently bought a brand new one from the UK for $140. The prices seem to vary considerably. Aussies all appear to be too expensive. Did see some cheap ones in USA but pretty sure the frequency is limited to 315.
Also as you suggest check the rest of the forum.

Didn't know about the scanners but are the stores you mentioned near any radio towers? The RF energy from something near by may be affecting the signal from your remote.
Pedro had a good suggestion too (and yes I do realise I have just stated the obvious).

Again in my previously owned car, (2000 Fairmont Ghia) it was a telstra braodband tower that screwed with my Stinger alarm, i couldn't get it locked unless i used the key but after pacing back and forward half a dozen times scratching my head i decided to head home but the bloody thing wouldn't start, called the racv, waited two hours for him to not even bother getting a tool out of the ute, only to tell me to get in, knock it into neutral & steer, he pushed me down the carpark about 20m or so, yelled out from the back "try it now", bloody thing started, the alarms computer apparently picks up on the signal coming from various different sources ( braodband towers, radio, even traffic lights if they're on a remote) & convinces itself it's a theif standing beside the car with a decoder of some sort trying to find the frequency it responds to and automatically shuts down untill the conflicting signal it was originally picking up on is not longer in range. I have heard of guys with the first of the gen3 SS commodores hving to have the security systems ripped out & replaced because they fry a particular component in the computer & its more expensive to replace than to re-install a new unit.
Bugger!!!
