US built winch bar for D2

    Hi all,
I've been toying with the idea of putting one of these on my D2.
    D1 & D2 Front Winch Bumper
The price is right, but I'm concerned they may not be legal here. Some issues with the SRS, or something.
    Any ideas?

I was quoted 125USD for shipping which I thought was pretty good.

That is one terrible looking bar! (just my opinion and like an a#$ehole everyone has one)

If your going to run the guantlet with ADR's why not look at the Wideface Front Bumper with Full Brush Bar - Discovery Series II - Rovertym Engineering bars or even the Draken Off Road designs lrd2fb.html drakenoffroad.com web site for some alternatives.
Either way be sure to post up picks when your done, i'd be keen to see the outcome.

    Cheers

That bar is more of a brush bar on a heavy bumper.

I thought any bar is compatible with later airbag systems like the D2 has as they use de-accelerometers to set the bags off rather than crush cans and micro switches as used in early D1s.

Pedestrian safety is another issue though.

I agree it's not the greatest looking bar, it's sort of ahh .....American looking.
However it ticks a few boxes: Robustness, recovery points, takes a winch, and of course price.
Also, comes with factory fog lights installed for 75USD extra.

I dont think the rovertym ones are anymore aesthetically appealling then the one biggin suggested. It frustrates me that draken doesnt show pics of any of their gear mounted up to the cars. I wanna see their four link in action before i part with the hard earned, and the same goes for their bars.

My only concern with these bars is the approach angle with the monster winch cradle.

@ The Kid, i never said that they looked better , although the original slimline from RTE is growing on me after looking at them over the years. I too would really like to see a Draken on a vehicle besides a Jeep. I think (don't quote me on this!) Justin from Lucky 8 llc is running one on his truck but i haven't seen any close ups. They do look interesting.I have always liked the Equipe (Italy) tube bars as well. For the record i've got an ARB but am considering something different.

Well, the bullet has been bitten.
Ordered the D2 winch bar plus fog lights.
It may be a risk but if I don't like some aspect of it, I can always redesign it with the grinder.
Now to explain this to my insurance company.
