99.999% it would be the throttle potentiomer/ pedal.
If you are getting 'driver demand' codes then that is confirmation.

Hi all
Recently my 02, TD5 Auto started to get the S & M lights flashing, and going into limp mode. Having had this same problem some years ago on another disco, I assumed it was the inhibitor switch.
So changed it yesterday, took it for a good run everything sweet. Went out today, and just before I got home I got the dreaded duo again and the disco went into limp.
New battery and charging ok, so anybody have any ideas?, would the fault codes have to be cleared after changing the switch?
any help appreciated.
Dave

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
If the inhibitor switch isn't adjusted properly it will also throw M&S faults. Check that when you pull it through every gear that the correct gear is being displayed on the dash.

Will have to go and get the codes read I suppose. I set the inhibitor switch with the proper tool, so would have thought the settings were ok, and it ran ok yesterday but will double check tomorrow.

Just to reiterate what Slunnie said... run the shift through and check that the correct gear is showing on the dash display. If not, just get under there and fiddle lol
D4 SDV6, a blank canvas
Have run through the shifts, correct gears showing on dash display and selector, did check that when replacing the switch,
It could be all of the above or it could be the absolute pain in the preverbial that I just went through.
Had exactly the same problem with a box couldnt find the fault, changed the inhibitor switch twice for new ones. Checked all the wiring looms including the one in the valve body assembly to find no faults in them...
Still had M & S and limp home.
Pulled down the valve body completely and put it back together again.. good for 3 days and bang it comes back.
Changed the Auto ECU no change.
Out of pure frustration changed the wiring harness from under the centre console down to the box and lo and behold problem goes away.
Checked the one that was pulled out sitting on the bench... still cant fault the harness no matter what was done.
Problem fixed but none the wiser to what caused it.

I have seen this on a few vehicles now that they are getting older & i had this on mine too.
Check the metal "P" clip that sits atop the transfer box. The wiring loom from the multiplug under the centre console to the gearbox travels through this loom. I found on mine where the aluminium protective foil is, it is kept in place by a metal "P" clip on the rear of the transfer box, that is where i found 2 wires cut. Causing good contact, no contact, intermittant contact...No so fun across the Simpson Desert.
Also check the connector on the gearbox, it is a twist style connector, seen a couple come loose, which will also cause the pair of lights to come on.
HTH.
Cheers.
still getting this fault intermittentely, so bit the bullet and took it to the Land Rover dealer in Geelong to get the codes read, which was
"P0743 torque converter lock up solenoid (short or open circuit intermittent)."
The guy there to his credit said that it would cost a small fortune to fix there, and recommended trying a gearbox/ LR specialist.
Anybody had this fault before? Will I need to sell one of the kids into slavery?
