It ended up being the boost modulator, which I changed in about 3 minutes. The part was $44 from Karkraft in Silverwater. Contact Karcraft Australia

Thanks to all that helped me out with their knowledge and suggestions.
Cool, I should put one back into mine one day.
    Cheers

simple as just running the black rubber hose from the inter cooler pipe to the waste gate.

    Same set up as defenders.

Yes Benny_IIa , that is what i have done to my D2 , but i a would like to know then ;Why doed a d2 have a boost modulator in the first place ?

I find i can hear my turbo moor and it has a bit more go but it feels like it may have a bit more lag now too.

The modulator controls the speed of the pressure signal to the wastegate. Basically it allows as slightly higher boost by slowing down the wastegate operation at peak boost.

On a D2, if you bypass it, it wont make it lag but it will drop your boost slightly and can make the wastegate valve chatter. A new modulator is only about $40 from Rovacraft and others.

By the way, your Provent is sitting on my desk paid for waiting for you to pick it up!!

    Cheers

Is it a bad thing to bypass the modulator? Ive just done it to mine to see what happens, it seems heaps more responsive off the line and there is much less lag there through the rev range. It hasnt over boosted, can the ECU still detect this if it is disconnected????
Does it have any effect on fuel consumption apart from flooring it , and throwing itdown the exhaust yrself??

    cheers
