    Oil leak

    Hi guys & girls,
I've noticed a minor leak under the landy but it looks to be coming from between where the V8 & the gearbox mate together??
Motor hasn't been in long & I'm not losing engine oil or transmission oil so is there anywhere else it could be coming from within the bell housing? Maybe I'm just being paranoid and it's just a result of the motor being changed and the gearbox not being cleaned up properly but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
    Cheers all

Sounds a bit like the rear main seal.
Goes around the crank shaft at the rear of the motor.
Check to make sure the motor isn't over full of oil, it can cause this to happen.
I'd see how it goes if it's new, other wise the gear box has to come out
    Cheers, Kyle

    Thanks for the reply bud,
I did think of that but the leaking oil seems really really thin so I hoping it's just mess from the motor change. If not, it's under warranty
Is there any way I can check the rear main without removing the gearbox?
    Cheers

If there is a cover plate on the lower front of the bellhousing then remove it and check the back of the flywheel for oil smear.

    What colour is the oil?
When you say thin, its not brake fluid or power steering fluid running down the back of the motor..

    Just a thought..

    Cheers Ean
