Is now a good time to revisit our

"New D2 after purchase maintenance schedule"

    Throw away your lock nuts.
Make sure the tool you carry to undo wheel nuts can.
    Is it a calcium battery?
    Check your oil pump bolts.
Check for oil in the harness.
Check the condition of the airbags.
    Change the fob batteries.
    Check for ANY fluid loss.
    Read the manual.

There is a good 1st service checklist in TGO.

Doing the above might just get you there---

Yep, the 'read the manual' bit is among the best advise you can get.
We've had ours for about 6 months now and I remember when I was looking around, I was showing half the people some of the stuff, like raising the rear ride height on the sls, not many people knowing what ACE is.....

I guess thats why I scored an advertised SE model that was really an ES!

Yep, this forum is worth its weight in gold!

I've been thinking about the muffler mod - might be time for some sound?
Does it drone at any speeds? Particular at 100/110 kph?

Is reasonably quiet sitting at your normal speed limits, 50/60/80/100.
Gearbox seems to choose the appropriate gear quite well. I've been running mine in sports mode & selecting 3rd gear for anything 60kms or less, using the D position like an overdrive as one kind fella suggested on this forum. Give it a boot full and away she roars but lightly does it & is as quiet as a mouse, almost

It doesn't drone at all. It just sounds nice and quiet but wakes up when the throttle is pushed.

Thanks for the other info Pedro... Most of those points are taken care of. Just need to finish off the rear brakes, fix a slight oil leak and it should be all good.

FINALLY... replaced the rear rotors and pads today. Boy, were the rotors in poor shape. Very rusty, very scored and very hard to get off the hub. I don't think they've ever been replaced or serviced in their lifetime. The calipers were also very stiff.

After greasing the calipers and fitting all the shiny new things, it brakes very smoothly now. I thought it was smooth having done just the front rotors and calipers, but now it's a whole new ride!

I also remedied an intermittant fault with the indicator stalk. Problem was that the indicators wouldn't activate upon actioning the stalk when turning left or right... but only occasionally.
A bit of a blast with some WD-40 seems to have fixed it right up. I love that stuff.

Another new addition is the new handbrake boot and low/high range boot. Much nicer in real leather than the artificial, flaky looking crap that was there previously.

All in all, I've got to say that this is a very satidfying car to work on.

Next on the list is the dicky passenger door exterior handle. It works most of the time but not all the time. Any tips?

wd40 will clean but its not a lubricate,,
or should i say its not a good lubricate as it attracts dirt an dust--

I will get some pics up soon. The missus is taking it away for the weekend with her girlfriends, so it won't be this weekend, but as soon as I get some time in this silly season.

Yep, had it done a couple of weeks ago. Had the centre muffler replaced for a straight through sports muffler. Sounds nice now... Tough but not too overbearing or loud.
