Another quick update. YESSS!
The FOB and blank key from the US is 315mhz. All for around $85. Eat that Stealership!

How can they justify their prices when they can easily be sourced elsewhere for such low prices?

I spend every spare moment I have working on my ride & he's definitly making me feel like a spud!!! Lol

Hahaha! It's a labour of love really. Everything I'm doing will slow down eventually. I'm just getting it spot on so that I can feel confident that the likelihood of something going wrong while my missus is driving it are reduced.

Well... That and I like playing with the truck.

I haven't let my missus behind the wheel yet for that very reason

Time t take the Disco to Land Rover for a service and to try and make use of the 5 year warranty that came with the car. I've found an oil leak that seems to be coming from the drivers side just underneath the manifold, causing a few drops onto the ground and splashing oil over the bottom of the sump and cross member. Also spotted a leak from the transmission, just behind the bell housing, somewhere near where you can see the drive shaft under the car.
No real clue if I can remedy the situation by myself (any ideas?), so thought I'd try a warranty claim first.

I also checked the condition of the breather hose today, the little black part that lives in the mounting point at the rocker cover was cactus and so was the other end that screws into the MAF end. It snapped clean off instead of unscrewing. I guess the heat of the engine causes the plastic components to become brittle over the years. Anyway, new parts ordered from LR, arriving on Monday and abot $17 all up. Maybe this is something that everyone with a V8 should look into.

A quick update... Today I picked up a new oil separator and mounting screw for the oil breather hose (rocker cover to MAF). All up the two parts were $18, + $3 for some new screw clamps.
I've gotta say that the replacement of the oil separator breather at the rocker cover end of the hose had made a noticeable difference to the way the car drives. It idles more smoothly, gear changes are smoother and seem not need to kick down or hunt through the gears as much. Overall, it's much smoother. I guess there was quite a blockage in there.

Do this if you've got a V8.

I also fixed the "chirping" idle pulley, well as a temporary measure anyway. Gotta love dry lube.

This morning I managed to install a new stereo system that I had lying around in the garage.
It's an Alpine single DIN with iPod interface. The install was very straight forward (with the help of RAVE to identify the wiring).
The sound if far and away better than the OEM POS.

While I was at it, I fixed the pop out cup holders, coin tray and ash trays that were no longer popping out.

Job done! It's the little things that count.
